How to choose a Y strainer
Threaded Y strainers: brass and bronze in PN16, PN20 and PN25, and S.S (SS304 or SS316), all from ½" to 4", forged S.S at 800 WOG in BSP or NPT from ½" to 4", and forged C.S (A105) at 800 WOG in BSP or NPT from ½" to 2". Flanged (F/T): S.S in PN10, PN16, CL150 and CL300 from 1" to 12", C.S in CL150 and CL300 from ½" to 12", and C.I in PN10 and PN16 from 1½" to 8".
A Y strainer catches scale, weld slag and other debris before it reaches a pump, meter, control valve or trap. Fit it upstream of the item you want to protect, with the screen leg pointing down on horizontal lines so the dirt collects there. Match the body and class to the valves on the same line: S.S for corrosive service, C.S for process lines, C.I, brass or bronze for water.

Upstream of the pump, meter or valve you want to protect, with the screen leg facing down on a horizontal line so it can be cleaned easily.
Screwed or flanged?
Threaded strainers suit small lines up to 4". For larger or flanged lines we list S.S in PN10, PN16, CL150 and CL300 from 1" to 12", C.S in CL150 and CL300 from ½" to 12", and C.I in PN10 and PN16 from 1½" to 8".
Do you have an SS 316 Y strainer?
Yes. S.S Y strainers in SS304 or SS316 come threaded from ½" to 4", forged at 800 WOG (BSP or NPT) from ½" to 4", and flanged in PN10, PN16, CL150 and CL300 from 1" to 12".
