How to choose a quick coupling

QRC (quick-release) couplings for compressed air lines come in brass and in a C.P carbon steel and stainless version. Hose ends and hose plugs are listed in ¼", 5/16", ⅜" and ½" and in 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm; male thread couplings, female bodies, male plugs and female plugs in ¼", ⅜" and ½". Plugs and bodies must be from the same series to connect.

Storz couplings in aluminium or stainless steel (SS304 or SS316), and a second aluminium coupling type, run from 1½" to 4" as female, male, hose end, dust cap, reducer or gasket. Storz halves are identical and twist together, which makes them common on water and pump hoses. Galvanised Bauer and Millar couplings run from 3" to 8", complete or as single parts, including Bauer with flange and Millar with male thread.

Ductile iron universal pipe joining couplings and universal flange adapters, PN10 or PN16, run from 2" to 24". A universal coupling joins two plain pipe ends without welding or threading; a flange adapter turns a plain end into a flanged one. Measure the actual outside diameter of the pipe first.
