How to choose butt-weld fittings

S.S butt-weld fittings in 304/304L and 316/316L are listed in SCH10, SCH40 and SCH80 from ½" to 12": 45° and 90° elbows in long and short radius, 180° elbows, equal and reducing tees, concentric and eccentric reducers, end caps, crosses, and concentric and eccentric swage nipples. Reducing tees, reducers and swage nipples run from ¾" × ½" to 12" × 10".

S.S pipe, ERW and seamless, comes in SCH10, SCH40 and SCH80 in 304/304L or 316/316L from ¼" to 12", with S.S long nipples from ¼" to 8" in lengths of 3" to 12". For C.S butt-weld fittings and M.S pipe, see our carbon steel page.

Long radius (LR) elbows have a centre-to-face of 1.5 times the pipe size and give a smoother flow. Short radius (SR) elbows, at 1 times, save space. Use an eccentric reducer on pump suction, flat side up, so air does not collect. Match the fitting schedule to the pipe wall so the bores line up for welding.

Questions buyers ask

LR or SR elbow?

Choose LR for most lines. Use SR only where space is tight. Our S.S elbows are listed in both.

Concentric or eccentric reducer?

Concentric keeps the centre line and suits vertical runs. Eccentric keeps one side flat and is used on pump suction and pipe racks.

Do you have the pipe as well?

Yes. S.S pipe, ERW and seamless, is listed in SCH10, SCH40 and SCH80 from ¼" to 12". M.S pipe, ERW and seamless, is listed in SCH STD to SCH160 from ½" to 12" on our carbon steel page.

Do you have carbon steel butt-weld fittings?
